Urls with Parameters Indexed by Google

Greetings,

We are contacting you as Google has indexed a significant number of urls with parameters like the following:

https://www.secnews.gr/?attachment_id
https://www.secnews.gr/page/2/?attachment_id

which do not correspond to pages that we have created or handle.

These seems to be archive pages generated automatically containing all of our posts (like a blog). This happens only with the home page links and not generally.

We are unable to edit these pages and they seem to be using a different template than the rest of the website. Moreover inspecting their code, they seem to have features enabled like woocoommmerce, login feature etc that are disabled in our website, which makes this even more weird.

I can see many topics from users mentioning the same glitch, but i couldn’t find a concrete solution. Therefore we are asking for your attention on our issue in order to resolve and remove these pages both from google and our site.

Hi,

As I see these indexed posts that are part from your website -> https://i.imgur.com/t07QwgF.png
Please update the the to last version 10.3.5 -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/ also make sure that you do not have some plugins that place these extra parameters.
Also will take some time until google will re-index your website.

Here is a similar topic -> https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/10462820?hl=en

Thank you for your understanding!

The screenshot you provide is of a search results page and unrelated to the problem we are facing.

Please consider the following urls provided, which correspond to a blog page / section with our content of course, but it’s a page not created by us.

https://www.secnews.gr/?attachment_id

https://www.secnews.gr/page/2/?attachment_id

As mentioned before, by inspecting the code, the pages / blogs seem to have features enabled like woocoommmerce, login feature etc that are disabled in our website, which makes this even more weird.

We have installed Newspaper theme to another website too and the same issue / blog post pages are appearing there too, when requesting the home page with these certain parameters.

Hi,

I just make some more investigations and I found that there are other users that had this problem and was related by Yoast SEO -> https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-remove-attachment_id-on-pagination/ pelase make sure taht you are using the last version of this plugin -> https://yoast.com/media-attachment-urls/ after that ask google to re-index your website and check to see if this problem is solved or not.

Let me know the results!
Thank you!

Hi, we are using the latest version of the plugin and the feature to redirect attachment URLs is set to “Yes”. This is happening only to the homepage though. Moreover, totally disabling yoast, does not fix the issue.

As we can see the page under consideration: https://www.secnews.gr/?attachment_id= inherits theme’s blog template.

Is there any way to make edits to this page/template as the “Edit with TD Composer” is disabled ?

Moreover would it be safe to set a redirection till the issue is resolved? To redirect https://www.secnews.gr/?attachment_id= to https://www.secnews.gr/ ?
