Additional Child Theme Functionality

Is there anyway to expand what files you can modify with the child theme?

For example, I am modifying the Author Box (see another thread of mine). It is not in the includes/modules folder but instead in the includes/shortcodes folder and therefore isn’t overwritten by the child theme.

Also, trying to modify the JS file to remove smart scrolling (because it doesn’t work with Macs). Again, this can’t be modified through the child theme.

On a future update, I may lose these modifications if this file is changed.

Thanks

Hi,

Unfortunately that can’t be done at the moment but we are working on it and the possibility to edit and alter more theme files via child theme will be available in next theme updates.
Until then I suggest to make your changes to the main theme files then take note of them and make a copy of the modified file/files then when an update is available just check the update log and if there aren’t any change to those files you’ve also modified just replace the file with you own. If changes have been made then you’ll have to make the changes again.
Regarding the smooth scroll you can remove it like suggested in this tread: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/remove-smooth-scrolling/#post-23634

Thanks

I guess that will have to do for now. Just going to make the updating process more tedious. Please expand child theme functionality in future releases. Great theme! Appreciate it.
