Hi,

You could check this – https://yoast.com/404-error-pages-checking/
And use a plugin to redirect them.

Thank you, Emil G.

Note also you will get a 404 error at least once when changing themes, where you are deactivating one directory, and adding a new one, but the new one is still being activated. I usually see ONE 404 error such as for /newsmag/ or whatever when doing some kind of major update. You can just click to say it’s fixed and ignore it.

Also good to resave your permalinks after a major update to WordPress or a theme, in my experience never hurts.

Hello,

seems on the theme my email contact@vpnmag.fr is not well coded…

all my permalink are good but google seems to detect the email being part of the link…

i removed the email now from footer and author profile but still getting a lot of error message about 404 being under this format

https://www.vpnmag.fr/vpn-pour-tablettes-ipad-galaxy/contact@vpnmag.fr

which doenst make any sense has we never had email in permalinks or else…

That’s an odd error, but I did find this fix here that might help

Hello,

Thx but i would prefer to avoid to add this code also the error happened right after i switched to newsmag from newspaper. My dev. told me in newsmag the email was hardcoded which caused such issue… ?

Also now i removed email everywhere i still get this error.

Is there anywhere in the code where would by email which explain it is followed by google or smt h?

thx

Btw,

i’d like to add i switched an other site to newsmag and the exact same problem happend…

Google warning about 500 url being 404 with all the same issue the email appearing at end of the url …

There must be an issue with the theme, this never happened to me before on over 50 sites

thx

Hi,

The mail displayed in the footer uses a similar code to Newspaper – http://screencast.com/t/5DpMw3GsmX99http://screencast.com/t/CUXtNO8T5KS6
The resulting link is identical – http://screencast.com/t/MG9vkZTPRPnRhttp://screencast.com/t/GrQtMHu1q

Did you added the email on another location? or used a plugin who may have added it on the page?

Thank you, Emil G.

Hello,

No i didnt add any specific email in footer or else… with a plugin.

I get on both site this issue with 404 like

/best-vpn-for-algeria/contact@bestvpnservicemag.com
/question/is-direct-traffic-possible-in-vpn/contact@bestvpnservicemag.com

or

/vpn-pour-tablettes-ipad-galaxy/contact@vpnmag.fr
/quel-vpn-tablette-android/contact@vpnmag.fr

etc….

GWT also notified me of those issue along with my wordpress redirect plugin which also detect 404.

Before i add email in author profil and in footer i removed on both website.

Email are now nowhere to be found on the site.

I also checked xml site map they are clean.

Maybe the issue started when email were into author profil my dev told me the theme was showing email as normal links not mailto one…

what u think

OK i found the bug…

when you input email into the footer option of the theme ….

it is rendered like http://mailto:

so google indexed them all.

Can you pls fix the theme and provide an update.

cheers

That’s very odd…
if I place the email in the footer in my install of Newsmag (latest version), via the theme panel
I get the correct:

a href="mailto:support2@mysite.com">support2@mysite.com /a

(had to remove brackets as the code element in this forum seems a little wonky)

Make sure you’re not using an external link modifier plugin that is doing something like adding external link option to emails; as that may be rewriting your email URLs.

Hi,

@bariton

I have also checked this and haven’t had this issue so in your case as Chris also stated it could happen due to a plugin or due to changes to your htaccess file or another custom changes which add http to all your links.
Make sure that you also try this without any plugins active then also empty cache an try again.

Thanks
