I’ve got some questions for the update of the theme.
If i put all the new files, and overwrite existing files, i will loose all my configuration ?
Same question with the auto update toolkit ?
Auto update doesn’t work very well, at least not for me.
You don’t lose the settings in the control panel. Of course you can export your settings from the admin panel for the theme before update, always a good idea to back that up before doing any updates 🙂
I use Envato Toolkit wordpress plugin and I usually keep a backup of the Export/Import Theme settings in notepad. Sometimes a little configuration is lost, that’s why I keep the Export Theme settings, so any time I can import theme settings via theme panel if any problems arise.. 😀

So, if i save the configuration in the configuration file in the panel, i’m sure that if i upgrade the theme and it’s down, i upload the configuration and all will be ok ?
Yup. I did this back and forth while deciding whether to use Newspaper or Newsmag on a particular site which was 10 years old. The only hiccup I had was one time with a major update, like from Newspaper v3 to v4 (or was it v2 to v3), a couple of modules changed, and so I had to redo couple things on the sidebar. Which is kind of expected sometimes.
Obviously if you’re really paranoid, also, you could look at your widgets panel and do a screen capture of the module layouts for sidebar or custom home page sidebar … juuuuuuust in case.
And you should also backup your custom CSS just to be even more paranoid 🙂

I’ve got a question about that SQL thing. Is it mandatory or can we skip it?

Looks like they changed some shortcodes, probably for compatibility with Visual Composer, etc. So, if you were using those shortcodes throughout a site in posts or something that would be the code to rename the shortcodes.
I personally never use shortcodes in posts/pages from a theme, since I’m then locked into that theme forever. Nope. Not going to do it. 🙂
Shortcodes are good for pages, and sidebars, and such, but I’d never recommend using them in posts, personally.

You can rename them manually, or you can use the SQL as an alternative (for automatic replacement).

Shortcode should not be used in the post, it’s not good. In the past I have bad memories using a shortcode with adsense ads plugin, when I disable the plugin all traces shortcodes appear in every post. Finally I remove all shortcode via SQL queries with a total of more than 1200 posts on my site, it’s exhausting. 😀
