Update 10.3.8 with AMP ver.2.0.7 (just mobile theme) = AmpWP\Exception

Posted in: Newspaper
Post count: 364

how to reproduce:
1. NewsPaper Updated = 10.3.8, AMP = 2.0.7
2. USE MOBILE THEME FOR: = Mobile
https://prnt.sc/vne824
3. Try to visit mobile page
You’ve got the following error:
——–
AmpProject\AmpWP\Exception\InvalidService thrown
The service ID “dev_tools.likely_culrprit_director” is not recognized and cannot be retrieved
——–
Screen – https://prnt.sc/vnequs
from another tool – https://prnt.sc/vndy8g

To avoid this problem:
1. Change USE MOBILE THEME FOR: = “Mobile + AMP” screen – https://prnt.sc/vne8tx
after that mobile page works well

After that I tried to change USE MOBILE THEME FOR: = “Mobile” Mobile pages worked.

Cache was cleared.
I’m not sure is it problem with site or AMP compatibility – just for your info.

What does it mean – I don’t know: “dev_tools.likely_culrprit_director”
🙂

Small update:
When I changed: Appearance – Menu (items positions and added new elements https://prnt.sc/vnfznq ) this error was run for mobile version.

cure: Switch from Mobile mode to Mobile+AMP and back to Mobile – clear cache.
After that exception does not show.

Hi Kibiribi,

I’m getting the exact same issue on my site (stluciatimes.com).

This issue only started after I upgraded to the latest version of the Newspaper theme.

I’m on Newspaper 10.3.8 and Amp 2.0.7 and I get a “Fatal Error” on my site.

I’ve enabled debug mode and I see the following message:

Fatal error: Uncaught AmpProject\AmpWP\Exception\InvalidService: The service ID “dev_tools.likely_culprit_detector” is not recognized and cannot be retrieved. in /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/src/Exception/InvalidService.php:57 Stack trace: #0 /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/src/Infrastructure/ServiceContainer/SimpleServiceContainer.php(39): AmpProject\AmpWP\Exception\InvalidService::from_service_id(‘dev_tools.likel…’) #1 /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/src/Services.php(55): AmpProject\AmpWP\Infrastructure\ServiceContainer\SimpleServiceContainer->get(‘dev_tools.likel…’) #2 /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/includes/amp-helper-functions.php(420): AmpProject\AmpWP\Services::get(‘dev_tools.likel…’) #3 /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/includes/amp-helper-functions.php(474): {closure}() #4 /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugin in /chroot/home/a026d271/stluciatimes.com/html/wp-content/plugins/amp/src/Exception/InvalidService.php on line 57

If I do what you said: switch from Mobile mode to Mobile+AMP and back to Mobile (or back to AMP) and then clear the cache, the problem is resolved immediately.

Can anyone help with this?

Hi,
I’m not 100% sure about this, but the problem can be because now when you set only the mobile, then the amp settings are no longer display in WordPress.
I noted this on our list to made some more tests to see if is not a bug or something.
Thank you!
