Of course thinking this was a simple Template upgrade I just hit upgrade. My entire site is gone as far as content an layout. There is no rollback option in the rollback section. I spent days on layout and data and fixing issues and all gone. Of course I didn’t backup I thought like most theme updates that are part of the theme it would be a simple update not starting from scratch. Are there options or am I just starting from scratch. I don’t have backup with host unless I manually do it. I feel like an idiot but really didn’t expect this on this quality Theme.
Thankfully host did do full backup of all DB and Files. I will take my time to read next time. Again all my fault maybe some big red letters that say STOP and read first as I should have known any way.
So I have my site all restored how do I go about upgrading without the upgrade destroying my site data and layout. All I did was upgrade and all my custom changes were gone and none are script or there related etc… just simple layout and RSS news feeds. Please assist.
Hi iamtmo, I’m glad that you mange to restore your website.
First thing that you need to do before any theme update is a full backup to website and database and only after that update the theme.
Now if you or your host do not using security plugins, then using our guide from here https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/ should do the update with two clicks, one for theme update and one for plugins update (if you do not update the theme plugins and enable theme you’ll have only shortcodes on your website), now if you are using security plugins, it will be best if you can disable theme during the theme update and enable theme after that.
