Hello Support, I will like to check and confirm on the following:
1. Under Theme panel > Block Settings > Thumbs on Modules/Blocks, up to 8 thumbnails will be generated based on the image that I upload each time, right? Of course, this depends on whether I have enabled all 8 settings, right?
2. What is the meaning of retina and how do I upload the right image size for that purpose?
3. Some of the sizes are multiplied by zero, e.g. 150 x 0, does that refer to 150 x 150?
4. I built my entire site based on featured image size of 1200×628, and in that multiples for smaller images, e.g. 600×314. How can I alter the default settings so that such image sizes are generated each time?
5. In addition to Q4, can the theme support such image size altogether, i.e. for main page where I show all my posts, single post, related post. If this is possible, please guide me on how to achieve this.
I have tried searching for guides on your website but I couldn’t find the exact information and confirmation to my needs. Hoping you can help. Thank you.

1. Yes, if all are active, you will have that number of thumbs generated.
2. Retina images are very high quality images. Take 4K for example.
3. Yes, that refers to 150xauto
4. Unfortunately those are the only options available. editing those sizes will require a pretty big amount of custom work.
5. Our recommendation is to work with 1920x1080px images or 800x600px. Depends on your kind of blocks if you edit them to be vertically but 99% will go for the usual full HD 1920x1080px.

4. The default settings does not fit my needs at all as I run a blog with over a hundred images now. Hence, it is not practical to resize them in order to fit your theme. Additionally, those sizes (in the theme) are not social media friendly. Consequently, the more practical approach will be to change these default settings. How can I alter these default settings as I spoke with your pre-sales staff previously – she mentioned that this is doable.
5. All my images are in 1200x628px, and a multiple of it, e.g. 600x314px. Hence, please guide me on how to alter the theme for my needs.

2. For all the retina images there is a special tab like this one: https://www.screencast.com/t/YYH1EcRcfS5 Please note that not all the images can be retina. Also Retina works only with 4k monitors and there are not many of them out there.
4. You can change through the predefined ones. Adding a new one will require custom work and some work which unfortunately will not be covered by the support team. You can try the ones available. They might suit your desired design.
5. As mentioned on 4. Please first try our available options because they should work with your desired options.

I am having a lot of pain changing the pre-defined ones. In detail, I’m referring to the Theme Panel > Block Settings > Thumbs on Modules / Blocks. Accordingly, I will like to edit from 1920×0 to 1200x 628 and the rest of the thumb sizes in that multiple. This is because all my images are based on that size.
Consequently when I try to create a new page template or to start from scratch, nothing works and all my images are cropped up in a way or another. Given that I have already spent a lot of time trying to make things work, it is frustrating that nothing is working so far.
All in all, I merely wanted two designs – one for homepage (and category page will inherit this design), and another page for single post (and other pages will inherit this design).
If we cannot change the default ones, then I will face a lot of unnecessary images being generated whenever I upload a new image. This is for sure inefficient and unnecessary. Therefore, I hope you can guide me through and help me out as this is taking too much time without any improvement.

As mentioned above, the only options available are the ones you can already find. Personally I think it would be easier to resize your images than custom coding because the coding must be done properly in order to not be gone when updating.

Hello Vlad. Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, it has proven to be challenging for me to do all the resizing – certainly not practical and kind of impossible in reality. This is why I did ample research on your theme, including speaking with your colleague on my requirements prior to purchase.
However, this didn’t turn out well. And I tried various ways to see how I can make it work, but to no avail. In the end, I had to approach you for your kind assistance.
Will a custom plugin that forces the generation of images (to my needs) be a possible solution for Newspaper theme? In detail, I was using such a plugin to generate the right thumbnails for my current theme.

There is no trouble. Honestly we have not tried a plugin in this manner. You can try it but I still support the ideea of creating a new aspect ratio for your images to fit theme’s requirements since it would be easier.

This plugin works by calling functions from the theme. Since it is specific to that theme, I am not sure how it may fit into Newspaper. Will you be able to offer some help?
While I will love to create a new aspect ratio, but doing it for a few hundred images is not an easy task. Now, I am really upset to have been misled into buying the theme as it didn’t work as explained to me before the purchase.
