Hello.
We are building a blog using a Newspaper theme, and we have an issue with comments. Comments are enabled across the site (both WordPress core, the posts, and theme). We are getting:
“Comments are closed.” on existing posts with comments and no option to comment on any other post.
Please advice.

This happens because you have in settings > discussion check the box for automatically closed comments after a set numbers of days -> https://www.screencast.com/t/96CzDYJIrl please uncheck the box and save the settings, after that clear all cache and see if there is still a problem ( the “Comments are closed” text should disappear and comments will open again ).
