Hi, I am in the process of moving a site of mine across the the Newspaper theme, however moving forward Id like to explore moving other sites in the portfolio to newsmag.
From a backend perspective is the theme panel much different, as I dont want to cause confusion when running across multiple themes.
Theme panel is mostly the same; except the Newsmag system has some more updated options which will be in Newspaper 5.0. But I had no trouble moving from one to the other.
The only differences are on the front end design/layout and the specific options in the theme panel. The theme panel is the same structure as Newspaper. I moved from Newspaper to NewsMag without any issues. If anything, the panel are so similar (options offered) that you might forget which you’re working on if switching between multiple sites running both themes. Good luck.
I think some of the main differences are the updated image on/off panel for thumbnails.
And block settings. Other than that, and better organization within theme colors etc., there’s no difference.
