It looks like Newspaper loads two pretty large stylesheets, both “Standard Pack” and “Legacy.” Are both of these necessary? Or can one of them be removed somehow?

Hello!
If you use some elements for example default templates, then you need Standard Pack stylesheets. Otherwise, you can deactivate the plugin.
But, Legacy is necessary.
