Is this possible to add a crypto market counter on my newspaper theme.
Several websites offer an API, but I cannot seem to figure out how to input it into my site.

If they provide you a short code you can insert it in theme using column text short-code. Simply copy the shortcode and insert it in the text area of the column text as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/UEMEsVKog
Column text is an element from tagDiv Composer.
