I am trying to use the Authors Box element but when I add the authors ID nothing shows up. I have a site with multiple authors and photographers and each article has a different combination of authors/writers. Any help would be appreciated.

When you add author box widget on default will show all authors from your site. If you want to show only selected users please add authors id separated by comma ,: http://screencast.com/t/PRCtI9YgMT

I’m trying to place AUTHORS BOX widget at the sidebar and it is not possible to view.
When I put this element – all of the authors appear in the sidebar (more than 25)
How can I put the number of the shown authors. I want 5 most active authors to be shown.

Unfortunately the theme’s author box widget doesn’t have an option/filter for the most active authors. You can only use author ID’s: http://screencast.com/t/5bwCfqcaPX ..and set the one you want to include or exclude using the author box settings: http://screencast.com/t/mARyUr7fhkCb
If you want a different approach on this you can also use a plugin that can help you configure the authors widget based on most active perspective also.

There is not option for that unfortunately, sorry! Include just those authors you want and how many you want using the settings, you should get the a similar result.

in the settings box put the user IDs of the 5 most popular authors like
14,13,25,3,8
