Theme conflict with WP Google Maps

Hi,
I’m switching maps on my site to WP Google Maps. However, I’ve find that the zoom and street view icons do not show up on the front end of the website.

After disabling plugins and, finally, creating a staging site, I’ve narrowed down the problem to something in the Newspaper theme.

It is not caching, or another plugin — the icons only show back up when I switch to another theme such as the default theme. The problem occurs both with Newspaper and with my Newspaper child theme.

But I haven’t been able, yet, to figure out what bit of CSS (that’s what I assume it is) is causing this issue. It’s not as though the icons are hidden and I can make them viewable with CSS.

Any ideas?

Here’s a page with a map:

If I disable Newspaper and switch to another theme, I can see the “pegman” and zoom icons in the lower right-hand corner.

Thanks
Cheryl
