Hello,
I created a sub domain to work on an already existing website and installed the Newspaper theme. I was wondering if I will have any issues by activating the theme on the subdomain now. Because later I will need to activate it on the main domain after I complete the project and replace the new site with the current one.

Hello,
You can use a license key for one single product, but the same purchase key can be used to activate your development copies and also the live version of your theme. Using test platforms is allowed with the same Envato key.
