I am using the mobile theme currently. Will the site be much slower when I use the mobile page template builder?

Your page speed can be the same or even better. This all depends on how well your website is optimized and how well are you building it using the tagDiv Composer.

Normally the site is way slower if I use the responsive mobile version instead of the mobile theme. So this is not the case of I use the mobile theme template builder?

As mentioned above, this all stays in how your website is optimized. You can achieve good speed with mobile template if you set it up right. Don’t use too many elements and be efficient in your design.
