I started using only webp in my blog [digitaloutloud.com], but it appears that the featured images I set for my posts don’t appear when I share that post on social media (like facebook and twitter). But when I put a jpg or a png instead it appears.
Ps: on facebook debugger it’s says The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
I have the same issue my friend. can anyone please help us with this issue?
I think the problem is not about WordPress or Newspaper theme. Facebook can`t see and display webp images. We must wait for them to add support for this format too.
Ah true, Open Graph only supports image/jpeg, image/gif, or image/png (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/webmasters/#images)
