Fix Page Width

I would like to set the width of my homepage to a fixed width of 1000 pixels but I can’t find where to set this value. Can You help me?

I’ve to set up a Fixed width (1000px), how can I make this thing happen?
do i have to work on every single row? and what is the correct way to fix this width?

Thanks for your attention. I need to increase the side space to show a background area as adv. I see that on all sites the width of the main content is around 1000px, so with quite all monitor we have a good visibility.
Can I find an alternative way to achieve this?
