Like @great1212 said is not ok to set the r private key on forum because, other users can use it for there projects, so I remove it from your reply.
If you want to update the theme, the first step will be a full backup for your website and database and only after that update the theme.
The theme need to be update manually, via FTP/cPanel, upload the zip with the new theme version, then delete the existent theme and extract the theme zip, after that, from WordPress dashboard select the Newsmag > welcome and install/update the plugins from there, also, in case that you are using extra theme plugins and those are not in Newsmag > welcome section, check theme in Newsmag > plugins.

How does this forum not have a private area for credentials? Also, i’ve worked with 100’s of wordpress themes that all easily can be updated from within admin, why is it such a process to update Newsmag??
I went through all of the steps above to get the theme updated and now after following the steps my site is down and it shows There is a critical error on this website?? PLEASE ADVISE
Hi EJO14, our them has an automatic update option, but this was added in only in Newsmag v5.
About the forum, this is open for all users that have an account to can check the questions and answers from this forum. Also you can login only if you have a valid license key, so is no need to show it on forum.
After you update the them, did you update/install the theme plugins from Newsmag > plugin, also make sure that the theme requirements are set like in our guide -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-requirements-for-newsmag/ in case that there are still some problems make a test using only the theme plugins.
In case that the problems are still persisting, please provide a link to your website to check it or contact us at contact@tagdiv.com provide wp-admin and make sure that you have a full backup, also include the link of this topic in email to identify you.
