I need to add a custom class for different category, or at a featured image in order to customize the highlighted post in homepage via css.

I think that you can achieve this using the tagDiv Composer, select the blocks, set on them classes or edit the flex blocks https://i.imgur.com/L1gnEIl.png
Also the flex blocks are using the featured image as background.

If you need to add an extra class only for this post from a block for example https://www.screencast.com/t/7xDHrLFtscb to be highlighted, then there is no setting in order to achieve this.
If this is not what you mean, then please provide more information about what you need to achieve, screenshots or a video in order to help you.
