I am using the newsmag theme, and I am having a weird issue, what ever image I post in a new post, it automatically gets stretched (wide) to the websites content width, the post’s template width.. which is pretty weird. How can I turn this off?

The theme do not have an option that will automatically stretch the image to the template with, but maybe you the option from the editor is making the image to be display like that.
If you checked the add image option and the problem is still persist, please provide a link where I can inspect some images, in this way I can see from where he option it can be.

Just check any post. All I do is upload the images, and insert them into the post aligned center.
It looks that it is coming from a plugin -> https://i.imgur.com/Yuqwyiz.png that is resizing the images.
What you need is to disable all plugins using for image or optimize and find the one that is resizing the images.
