Theme Update Doesn't Retain Previous Settings

Why is it that every time I update the newspaper theme I have to manually re-install the plugins and re-activate the theme with my purchase code and then have to go back to the theme panel and re-enter pertinent settings like logos, header backgrounds, etc.?

Seems updating the theme should hold all the previous settings, plugins, etc.

Updating the theme is a major time consumer as my site won’t display or function properly until I reinstate the plugins, settings, logos, purchase code, etc., so I have to set aside enough time to redo all of these.

Hi,

This should not happen. Did you try to update the theme only with the active theme plugins?

Also, after all plugins are activated, you can use a backup for the theme panel -> https://i.imgur.com/Ki988c5.png -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-export-theme-settings/

Thank you!

Are you saying to try updating it with all other plugins deactivated except the ones required by the theme?

I haven’t tried this but I could next time there’s a theme update.

Also I am using a child theme. Should I switch and activate the default Newspaper theme when updating?

Hello!

Yes, it could be a plugin conflict with some non-tagdiv plugins active.
The child theme is not overwritten by the update. An issue for that could be the compatibility of your child theme with the new version of our theme(if you use some files which were updated).
If you have some custom modifications directly in the theme files, then better save the code and replace it after the update.

Thank you!
