Module redefinition in child theme not working

Hi, module redefinition is not working in child theme as 1.7 version.

1. Fresh install newsmag 1.7 and demo data

3. Redefinition of td_module_1, copy from parent to child-theme and modify

4. Modify homepage to use block3 (module1). The parent theme module1 is used. No child redefinition

Hi,

Please note within the latest theme version we have changed the child theme system (for which we will have a documentation available soon) and because of that at the moment module and parts files can’t be overwritten via child theme. Until then please make you change in the main theme file.

I see then modules may be redefined in this way in child theme:

td_api_module::update_key(‘td_module_1′,’file’,get_stylesheet_directory() . ‘/override/modules/td_module_1.php’);

where do you put that line? functions.php?

Hi, you should actually put it in functions.php after parent theme has been setup, something like this:

add_action( ‘after_setup_theme’, ‘child_after_setup_theme’ );

function child_after_setup_theme ()
{
td_api_module::update_key(‘td_module_1′,’file’,get_stylesheet_directory() . ‘/XXX-RELATIVE-PATH-FROM-CHILD-THEME/td_module_1.php’);
}
