the documentation on excerpts makes no mention of the wordpress <!-more-> tag and it doesn’t seem to work as an alternative to using the excerpt field in the flex blocks. Can it be added as a functionality?

Read more is working for the module 15 only. The other modules uses the custom functionality for the excerpts.

Thanks Bettina, I don’t seem to be able to locate Module 15.
Flex Block X offers me two Module Styles, 1 and 2 – am I missing a plugin? I have installed the tagDiv Standard Pack.
Ummm, I don’t think you mean Block 15? I have this, but I think it is fixed at 3 across and will not do in any case.

You can not use it with the TagDiv Composer because it is an old module that displays a post or article. For example, if you set a post page here: https://prnt.sc/Quv94d0vZJ1k It will display the module 15. Module 15 is not a block like a flex block!

Just FYI, in case anyone else has this issue, my client only occasionally uses pictures, so we needed the flexibility to have a single block which would automatically respond to this.
I’ve found that my client can copy both text and picture into the excerpt from a post (catching the html markup), and it keeps the picture and formatting and displays perfectly in a flexblock where ‘display picture’ is turned off. As one would expect I suppose! But an excellent solution.
