Adjust Overall Width

Hi,

I’ve purchased NEWSMAG and it’s really awesome. So first of all – thanks for the great theme.

While I’m setting up everything I wondered, if it’s possible to adjust the overall width. I like the boxed style a lot, but would prefere a slightly wider box with a little wider content area (sidebar is just fine!).

Is there an option or just a piece of css to adjust the width of the content area without messing up the whole layout?

Thank you very much,
kind regards,
Floda

Hi,

I’m not sure what you mean, but if you want to change theme full width please note that Newsmag has it full width 1021px. Unfortunately the theme was initially designed at that width with an fixed grid layout and changing it would not be easy as it needs changing the width value for all elements on pages and for this you would need custom work.
Please provide more details if this is not what you mean.

Thanks!

This is exactly what I meant – just make the content area for posts etc. wider. So is there an update planned in the future to change that? I saw a lot of request regarding this as I surfed throug this forum today.

Thank you for your fast answer and supprt!

Hi Floda,

As far as I know they have to create a new theme from stratch for that. A theme is designed for certain size or sizes at the beginning and that’s pretty much it. Newsmag only has 1021px width.

Newsmag has a fixed width for a magazine layout – but is responsive to “collapse” to smaller units of the grid based on viewport, and the “grid” would have to be changed quite a bit to allow different widths as all the sizes, sub columns, short codes, etc., are based on the “grid” — as most responsive design is now done (e.g., bootstrap) etc.

You would need to do something like manually edit the CSS to make the post width one unit wider “in the grid” and then the sidbar one unit less “in the grid” — but then many of the modules might not fit any more, etc.

Not easy!

Hi,

@Floda
Unfortunately we don’t plan to change the theme’s grid width and this is not an easy job so if you need this you’d have to hire a developer to make the necessary modifications for you as we cannot offer custom work at the moment so we can’t do it for you.

Thanks!
