Search / Exclude Post IDs / Only includes posts with those IDs

I’m trying to exclude specific pages from search results. I am in the (Posts Loop) configuration. Under (EXTRA), there is a field called (Exclude Post IDs). When you enter a post ID, only that post will get displayed. I expected the opposite to happen. All posts would get displayed except for the posts with their IDs listed.
