I am having a problem with my website sitemap, and I have no idea of what to do to solve it.
It keeps saying (This page contains the following errors:
error on line 1 at column 102: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.)

I checked the site sitemap via https://businessworld.africa/sitemap_index.xml
I saw an online resource that suggested I deactivate my plugins and activate them back, I did it, but the problem persists.

Hi Bettina, thanks for your response, I got in touch with their support via their community and they said they said the fault is not from their end. I have equally tried other SEO tools like YOAST and XML Sitemaps but the problem persists.

Hi,
The error you’re seeing is due to the extra lines of whitespace that appear when you look at the sitemap using view source. This is usually caused by extra lines output by another plugin or theme on your site.
Also, please delete the inactive plugins this can solve my problem.

Hello Calin, I have deactivated all inactive plugins, still have the same result. I have equally tried deactivating the active plugins, but no result. the only Theme on my website is the Newspaper theme.
I really need actual support. My website hardly ranks despite investing in content.
