We have recently updated the newspaper theme and now the acf plugin isnt working properly. It works on the homepage but not on the posts. We are using it to change the author name by using a text field. The website is eurweb.com. Can someone please help.

When they enter the author name it show the custom author name on the post live page.

Instead it only show the custom author name on the home page and not on the post page. On the post page it only shows the author of the post.
We use the plugin for when we need to reference a different author.

I understand that. But what if we don’t use the acf field and want it to be the default writer name. We only use that field when we want to reference a different author. So if we don’t put a name in the text field it wont show a name then if I did it the way you suggested?

Then you can use the element Single Post Author -> https://i.imgur.com/wboHLo7.png
You can duplicate the Single Post Template, in one template you can use the custom field, and in another the single post author.

ok in the video you will see me creating a new post. I input the author name in the acf field at the bottom of the new post page. Once I hit publish I went to the front end homepage and the author name that I inputted showed correctly. But when I went to the individual post on the front end it didnt work. Instead it showed my name instead of the author name I put in the acf field.

In the post -> https://i.imgur.com/Kze90X7.png you need to use the custom field, element, not the Single Post Author if you want to be displayed the “This is the author name replacement field”

You need to use Two Single Post Templates, one with the element Custom field and one with the Single Post Author, and assign the template as you need.
