default fonts

Hi
I have read and reread your documents on fonts but cannot achieve what I am looking to do.
I would like to set default fonts IN PLACE of your specified fonts. So when my website renders I don’t want to momentarily see newspaper default fonts before they switch to my desired fonts.
But also, I cannot find a selection of font settings that allow me to set default fonts. It just doesnt happen despite the docs saying otherwise.
I have set all the body and h tag styles in pages to my desired font, oswald.
I have disabled google fonts.
And yet on a page, like this one https://adzy.co/home-2/ the font for the text “THE AD AGENCY IN YOUR POCKET” which is set in the element as default, shows the newspaper out of the box styles and not the page styles i have set.
Please help.
Thx

Hi,

I checked, and you have the Oswald font for the text “THE AD AGENCY IN YOUR POCKET” https://i.imgur.com/RywzG4D.png

Thank you!

That is correct but when the site renders on a slow connection the fonts first appear as times new roman and something very close. Its only after a short while the correct default font replaces them. I would like to completely remove all references to other fonts, I guess your own default fonts for the theme. Please advise how i do this. Thx

Hi,

Please check this guide and upload custom fonts https://forum.tagdiv.com/font-customization/, and check after.
Also, do you have a plugin for optimization? Maybe there is an option to delay the font.

Thank you!

Hi Anamaria
My settings are as per the link your provided. I am working on site optimisation because it is slow and the font issue is more apparent, like it is visible as a Times New Roman type font for seconds. Are there further debug steps we can take?
Thx

I note that Global 1 and Global 2 in Manager are set to something I don’t know about :

I see reference here to Default font which should be oswald but it does not explicitly state this?

Hello @iancollins!

Yes, you have 2 global fonts, but you should check on the element what exactly is set there. I suggest you to make a test, clear all the cache from your browser and try again.
Please note that some styles of fonts may differ from browser to browser. Maybe the font you use is not compatible with the browser.

Thank you!

Bettina, this issue was reported to me by two users/visitors so whilst i can clear my cache it is not a “me only” issue which is why I need to get to the bottom of it. Anyway, I have indeed cleared my cache and i have put together a PDF with some information which you can reach here https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/clsz0f08cyqh04tnmlbre/font-renedering-issue.pdf?rlkey=vtrzkb0mycbei1mjdmkdq1ra5&dl=0

It includes tagdiv editor screen shot showing one of the many elements that are affected showing the element font set correctly.

The i have used console network throttling to show you exactly the problem.

Then i have copied the theme font settings so you can verify this is correct.

Hopefully from this we can establish if i have overlooked something or whether this is a bug or other issue.

Thx

Ian

Hello @iancollins!

If they are showing well in the tagdiv composer, then it should display the same on your website too.
Try to reindex your website and see the changes.

Thank you!

Hi sorry to post here but I simply cannot find a button that says NEW Post!!!

I have an issue with Newspaper theme template for video post called GTM Single Post Template Video. Here is an article that shows the video not full width as expected and not responsive as the placeholder in the tagdiv suggests. https://gotomarket.global/content/unlock-the-potential-of-us-life-sciences-market-insights-for-business-leaders/ the password is go2market.

I have a second issue in that inadvertently i checked the Global box next to this template in WP Cloud templates and have no idea what this has done or how I undo this. Can you advise plse?

Thx
Ian

Hello @iancollins!

You should only uncheck the global template in the theme panel settings. Choose “No Templates” there, and it will uncheck the green global tag from the Cloud Templates.

Thank you!
