is it possible to add the functionality of searching in forum-topics and replies as well, when using the search box in the main menu?

To display topics and replies search page you can try this solution – https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/plugin-snippet-hack-to-include-bbpress-topics-in-wordpress-search/
For live search in main menu you can try to add in in post type array also 'topic': http://screencast.com/t/1zmNi0NKkZ
