How to display an "updated" time stamp on certain posts only

Hi All,

How do we properly set up the Single Post Modified Date? It appears on every post, whereas it should only appear on those posts where we have made significant edits, warranting an “updated” line. For example, we posted an article today, and the modified date appears alongside today’s date, both showing the same date (even though we haven’t made any edits).

Edits or not, we need to control when the line item shows. Every post shouldn’t show a modified date. Please confirm if it’s possible to control it?

Thanks!

Hello,

You can duplicate the single post template and edit one template to show only the published date and another one to show both dates.
The same steps are for all templates -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-add-different-sidebare-for-different-posts-with-the-same-category/

Thank you!

Hi Anamarie,

Thank you. I was able to create a second template, with an updated date, however, it doesn’t work. When I’m logged into WP, the “updated” text shows, but when I’m not logged in, it only shows the date, no “updated” text. See this page here:

The original publish date was August 2023. I deleted that line item, added the modified date, changed the text to “updated.” This was all done under a new single post template.

As mentioned, it says “Updated April 2024” when I’m in WP working, but on other browsers (not logged in), the “updated” text doesn’t show.

Please let me know? Thanks!

Hello,

I checked now, and it seems the text is displayed: https://i.imgur.com/OLGDgAe.png. Maybe there was some cache there.

Thank you!
