Activate the license key on a staging website

Hi, I have duly purchased and activated a license of the NewsPaper theme on behalf of a client.
The problem is that I created a staging of the website, to test all the updates (theme, plugin and WordPress) in complete safety, but the NewsPaper theme in the staging installation does not have a license key and therefore I am unable to update it.

How can I add the license key on staging without losing the one already active on the live site?

You can use the same license on two websites, including a staging website.

I created and deleted a staging website without deactivating the newspaper theme. Now I cannot deactivate it. The staging site domain was just an IPv4 address I hosted on AWS and I cannot get the IP back. What do I do?
