In the last couple of days, we have noticed that using the Facebook share icon in the posts no longer works. Instead, we get a ‘reload’ button on the facebook page. At first, we thought it was a plugin, but turns out that your demo site does the same thing. If you go to:
and click the Facebook icon, you are directed to:
You must be logged in to Facebook before the blank page with reload button appears.
Sharer.php seems to be deprecated and no support according some posts on Facebook’s forums. Do you have any updates or new ways we can use to share posts to Facebook, or should we be looking at using a dedicated plugin for that?
This has nothing to do with your site or theme — we have a 25 year old news portal, on FB for looooooong time. This morning, in particular, getting a “page not found” error when trying to share to FB. Having to manually paste headline into post and paste in link to story as only solution.
These technical issues happen from time to time, outside anyone’s control.
They have started to expand their content filtering, and we also got our first stories deleted, flagged as spam. Second time figured out how to submit for a review, but you only get one chance on that.
Upshot: it’s not you, it’s them! 🙂
(I don’t work here.)
So true, but if the method that the theme is using has been deprecated per the Facebook support forums suggestions, then it would be nice to have a new way to share posts to Facebook.
That all being said, as I write this, Facebook seems to be working fine now. Not sure if the issue is just intermittent or if they really are trying to deprecate the method.

I’ve gotten no notice from FB that they are changing the default “share post” method used forever on billions of web pages.
Theme, like most share plugins, uses the normal default share link method, not something unique to theme.
FB just periodically has issues. Page not available error on share to my logged in account has nothing to do with share link, for instance.
Usual thing is “try again later.”
Just my experience anyway. I started sharing our content to social in 2005, so been through the ringer on this topic 🙂
Hello @efisher_ftec,
We made a few tests, and for us, this issue is not appearing. As you can see here, the share works: https://prnt.sc/7wcQ3y_xThM6 -> https://prnt.sc/7wcQ3y_xThM6. Maybe you have some extensions on your browser, so please try to use another browser, or maybe you have some restrictions from Facebook for your website/country.
Thank you!
