1. To add the language switcher in top menu you can you need to edit the homepage and add a column text in top bar – https://i.imgur.com/ZaBlTlX.png – , after that add the shotcode element of wpml menu in column text in text zone – https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-coding-api/shortcodes/ – https://i.imgur.com/hEkL3Lo.png
2. Usually this is a shortcode set in sidebar so what can be done is to go to Appearances > Widgets and remove the language shortcode.
