Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have other option to be used especially for forums, but we will improve this in future updates.

In Newsmag theme appears this message for users that are not logged in(bbpres forum), so when the user clicks on Log in/Register it will open the modal to login/register – http://screencast.com/t/0pno27eN9 I think that you want something like that. This option will be added in version 5 of Newspaper, we hope to release it in approximately in 2 weeks. For the moment users can sign in or register using the widget from top menu like I said above.

You have to create an homepage and add elements from Visual Composer(something similar like tech homepage and choose page template) – http://screencast.com/t/ltu9s7WuUXlw go to the block settings and choose filter articles, sort order, pagination.. – http://screencast.com/t/4Lsdy5hlnD – http://screencast.com/t/1sMtJn7k71n8
Also I see that now you use blog…you have to change to a static frontpage from Settings – http://screencast.com/t/nU4WTpuLTPp

I believed that you want a link to appear on forum page like on Newsmag – http://screencast.com/t/0pno27eN9 This will be available like I said on Newspaper 5.
