Today, I purchased the “Newspaper – News & WooCommerce WordPress Theme” for $59. Could someone please clarify whether this purchase has an expiration date for the license, or if I can use the theme on my website indefinitely? And how many websites can I use for this theme license?

The license is for a lifetime and you will have access to updates. The only thing that will expire is your support.
Also, you can use a license key for one single product, but if you want to move the theme to another website or change domain/migrate you’ll need to reset the license key from that website: https://www.screencast.com/t/Zt12bpyX and remove the theme (delete), in this way the license will be available for the new website and you can use the theme without any problems.
According to Envato license terms, a theme can be used for a single end product (website):
