WordPress Version: Latest (as of November 22, 2024)
Theme: Newsmag (lates version)
Issue: When I create a video post that uses a featured video as the main image (Video Post and source is Youtube) or inserts a YouTube-sourced video, Google Search Console reports schema errors related to video indexing. The specific errors are:
Critical Issue: Missing field “uploadDate” in the video schema markup.
Non-Critical Issue: Missing field “description” in the video schema markup.

These errors prevent proper indexing of video content by Google. I have tried several troubleshooting steps and consulted general guides, but I have not been able to resolve the issue.

Could you please advise on how to ensure that the “uploadDate” and “description” fields are properly included in the video schema markup? If this requires any specific theme configuration or updates, I would greatly appreciate your guidance.

I wanted to share the solution to the issue regarding video schema not being properly crawled on the site. The problem stemmed from how video pages were being crawled and indexed. Specifically, schema plugins, such as SmartCrawl, were not functioning as expected in this case.

I resolved the issue by adding a custom snippet to the mu-plugins folder. This ensured that important metadata like video descriptions, upload dates, and other relevant details are generated and made available when Google crawls the pages.
