I’m currently using the Newspaper theme, and I’ve noticed that my search functionality seems to only return results that match post titles, rather than also searching within the post content. I’ve checked the theme settings and my plugins, but I couldn’t find any specific option or filter that limits the search to titles only.
Could you please let me know if Newspaper has a built-in function or setting that restricts the search to titles? If so, how can I revert to the standard WordPress search behavior, which looks for keywords in both the title and the post content?

Hi,
Our theme uses the WordPress search function, and we made a few changes only for the live search. By default, those will display all posts and pages that contain the word/words you are looking for in the title or post content, but if those words are not in the content, then will not display content about that tag, for example.

I did a research at some newspaper sites, some mine some not and at all search was working only for title not post words so obviously newspaper in some way changes default wordpress search engine to search only titles right?
Anamaria had reply that search in newspaper returns results also for post words though

Anamaria was right the search from our theme is searching in the post content, for example https://i.imgur.com/z3Ybpo9.png the title is “Testtt” and the content is “Thsi is a test for search” now I will search for the word “search”- https://i.imgur.com/CrPEfbx.png

Finally found out what is happening!
As i checked big sites with hundreds of search result i found this:
If at search query pick the latest option, actually it searches both title and post words and results are correct BUT firstly appear by date all results where search term is at title and after these results appear by date results where search term is inside post. That’s why the confusion for me and the topic creator. So we see first all title results.
If pick by modified date the search results are returned by date both from title and post words, it is ok as solution but some older posts that modified recently appear first.
Could you check the query when latest is picked in order all results from title and post words to appear all together ordered by date?

I think finally people want the better matches first, so maybe the logic to appear first the matches at title and then the matches at post words is the best solution, so ignore my query before.
