Received various error message when I tried to update to 6 so re installed old version but can’t restore database or plugins using my Updraft plus plugin becuase when I try to use it I get a white screen. Also when I try to login to howdoidate.com I receive the following fatal error Fatal error: Call to a member function get_map() on a non-object in /home/thepetsp/public_html/howdoidate.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/widgets/td_page_builder_widgets.php on line 11

Thanks to the help of Hostgator and the fact that I did a backup I was able to revert back to previous version,
Remember when updating to DELETE old theme and TD plugins, and upload NEW theme and plugins; including NEW child theme if you use one!
Try using my sticky upgrade guide or you may be sorry.
It’s a new version of theme; you may need to redo your home page for some modules, and reset sidebars.
It’s an UPGRADE not an update.
Chris, that’s all very well but whether it’s an update or upgrade I think existing users have a not unreasonable expectation that the upgrade process will be straightforward, error free and well documented.
None of these expectations are met with V6.0 and unless existing users receive an apology and more importantly a well documented upgrade process that works they will leave in large numbers since it seems to me that it would be just as easy or even easier to change to an entirely new theme than try to upgrade the Newspaper theme to V6.0!!!!

Unless you had a very customized site using V4, I do not understand what is so bad about the new version.
All I had to do was to enable maintenance mode on my site (you can use a plugin), activate another theme so you can delete v4. Then upload and activate the new v6. I received an error about Social Media counter being out of date so I uninstalled the old version and installed the new one provided by the theme. Then, I customized the home page and the sidebar. It was pretty easy to me since I do not have a lot of modifications going on. It took me a long time to customize the font size since text is very small be default.
Thanks for sharing Albnaldo. To be fair I’m going to give it another go sometime this week since up until now I have had few problems and those were quickly dealt with by TagDiv.
Anyway I appreciate you telling me about your experiences which have gone some way to restoring my faith in the theme.

Tagdiv is a great team and Newspaper is a great theme. Lets not forget it ….
