Does “Enable article schema” duplicate Yoast SEO schema?

I’m using the Newspaper theme together with Yoast SEO Pro, and I have a question about the option “Enable article schema” located in:

Theme Panel → Post Settings → General post settings

I would like to understand exactly what this option generates.

Does “Enable article schema” output a full Article / NewsArticle JSON‑LD block that might duplicate or conflict with the schema generated by Yoast SEO Pro?

Or is it only adding a minimal/basic schema that complements Yoast (for example: headline, datePublished, etc.) without overlapping with Yoast’s full NewsArticle structured data?

In short:
Does this option duplicate Yoast’s schema, or does it add something different that works alongside Yoast?

I want to avoid double schema output, so any clarification on what this setting actually produces would be very helpful.

I have one more question related to schema integration between Newspaper and Yoast SEO Pro.

Yoast SEO correctly separates:

author → a specific person (journalist)

publisher → the organization (our news portal)

However, I would like to understand how Newspaper handles author data internally.

Does the theme provide separate structured data fields for the author (person) and the publisher (organization)?

More specifically:

Does Newspaper pass the author’s profile information (name, bio, avatar, social links) to Yoast SEO so Yoast can generate a proper Person schema with a unique @id?

Or does Newspaper only display author information visually, without exposing it to Yoast SEO’s schema system?

Is there any way in the theme settings to ensure that author[“@id”] and publisher[“@id”] remain completely separate and not mixed?

I want to avoid a situation where the theme overrides or merges author/publisher data, which could affect Google Discover and structured data quality.

Any clarification on how Newspaper handles author schema integration with Yoast SEO would be very helpful.
