Manually crop thumbnails

Hello
Is there a way to manually crop thumbnails? Because the automatic crop done to featured images are not always ideal. Aka I want to upload an image to be used as the featured image “inside” of a post but crop the version of the image that will be used as the thumbnail. If its not possible is there a way to upload a separate image to use as the thumbnail?

Hi,

Normally the aspect ratios we provide for the block modules should cover pretty much all the cases https://prnt.sc/mQl9loGJNWbi Or you can set a custom width, height, and vertical alignment for the images in a block https://prnt.sc/lovms5y9HVAv

It’s more of a make the module to display the image better, rather than make the image fit the module. These thumbs that flex blocks use aren’t cropped at all https://prnt.sc/RUYrJbBzPMIx The flex blocks display the image as a background, so you can adjust the module depending on the case. There are all kinds of block designs in the cloud library if you want to check them out https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Blocks

Could you provide an example of the issue you are having with the thumbs?

Thank you.

That’s not really what I mean. If this is what the picture that are used as the featured image and it looks good “inside” of the post, the thumbnail will be cropped something like this
I want to do the crop myself so it can be like this

The image can look like that in the block. The module of the block can have a portrait aspect ratio to fir the image better. If I use the image from your example and this layout https://prnt.sc/eNdkLXleuPSj the image looks good. Here they are side by side https://prnt.sc/NJu90aqhUYHS

The thumbnails are created automatically by the theme when you upload the images in the media library. An option to manually resize or crop them isn’t available unfortunately. The module of the block can however be customized so that the image looks good when displayed in them.

Thank you!
