our news website (http://www.tvn.pt/) are divided in different categories.
Our question is how to get the home appear random news (of all categories) and not a single category. So far we have published one by one, from different categories, so that we can see in the home themselves alternating/randomly.
What is the solution to do without all this work backoffice?

You can use theme’s blocks for this or a page with the latest articles section template and set the loop filter to random posts, like this: http://screencast.com/t/oDNA1pysB or blocks settings to filter posts from all categories and set the sort to random posts like this: http://screencast.com/t/sMtISHGU7

Our doubt is related to the previous one. Maybe we didn’t explained by the better way.
Our home is a page and the other five tabs are categories. At our homepage we have a big grid with the five news. It’s possible to show at the homepage grid the latest new of each category?

Unfortunately there is no sort option or filter to have that result in the grid.
The most specific filtering which you can try within our theme is tag filter and you can use a specific tag, set it to just those posts you want in the grid then set the tag filter to that tag you’ve used: http://screencast.com/t/HvCyrCD303 the most recent 4 posts that have that tag will show in the grid so it’s enough to apply the tag to those posts you need in the grid when you create them.
