Note that the code is minified in my image, check the line number in front to see how much you have to delete.

Please note that the above solutions(mine and Emil’s solution) are applied on tagdiv gallery and wordpress default gallery. This is not applying on content images or other galleries so it should work fine on galleries.

The code is the same and should disable the modal for default galleries if you delete it- http://screencast.com/t/P5flr02p Please note that if you use speed booster the code is minified and it is very difficult to remove it and it may not work. Try to disable speed booster and remove it like in the above screenshot and see if it works, then try to find a way for the minified code or not use speed booster plugin.
