Hi guys.
Can anybody advice the best way of doing this and/or can I request it as a feature.
I need to easily create a way to have certain content restricted so that only people who subscribe to our newsletter get to access it. My fundamental problem is a need to better understand who my visitors are and to try and gather data from them.
In addition my website http://www.betterretailing.com features content from several sister papers, one of which is a weekly paid for title. The problem we (and no doubt a lot of other publishers) face is that we don’t know how much to give away for free.
A possible solution would be to have some of the best features of the website behind a subscription wall and have metered access to the rest of the site so that after 30 days or 10 articles the visitor is prompted to subscribe.
I don’t want to scare visitors away or make it too hard to access our content but on the other hand I need a solution that at the very least provides us with more data on our audience (with the possibility of moving towards paid subscription plans down the line)
There are various plugins that offer some functionality but I’m wanted to know if anybody has any feedback/experience of making this work?
Of course having this kind of functionality built into the theme would be the preferred solution. If it works well I’m sure TagDiv could easily charge extra for it as a premium add on?
Thanks!
Ryan
Hey guys,
So this is still something I would absolutely love to implement.
If anybody is interested in this I’ve found a whole host of solutions
Magic Members
Memberful
Memberpresss
and for metering content Leaky Paywall and Tinypass
Whilst these solutions can work great I would still love it if the TagDiv guys were able to build this into the theme directly (Restrict Content Pro seems the most adaptable) :p
In the meantime I’ll let you guys know which seems to work best
Hi,
We’ve been using Restrict Content Pro
https://pippinsplugins.com/restrict-content-pro-premium-content-plugin/
Its pretty good. We use it to lock down certain content to members only. Its very flexible too if you know how to code. We’re actually going to be paying an external developer to help us improve it because none of the systems work exactly out of the box how we would like.
Our main goal is to know who our audience are and to offer people incentives to register with us.
If you’re interested in other membership options these are some of the ones I found:
Memberful – https://memberful.com/
Membermouse – http://membermouse.com/
s2members – http://www.s2member.com/
Memberpress – http://www.memberpress.com/
Magic Members – http://www.magicmembers.com/
Wishlist Members – http://member.wishlistproducts.com/
Leaky Paywall – http://leakypw.com/
Tiny Pass – http://www.tinypass.com/
WPMU Membership – https://premium.wpmudev.org/project/membership/
Id also recommend reading this guys website. He seems to have written several posts talking about the various pro’s and cons of different membership solutions.

Good luck!
Something new? Many of these linked services are no longer working, they look terrible, they are too complex, etc. Integrate into the Newspaper theme directly. It would be great!
Or suggest something that works simply please.
