I’m using Newspaper just 20 days. My site has been around for several years and I made the exchange for this fabulous theme. In the early days worked in reasonable condition with all optimizations taught in documentation and forum, but strangely suddenly began to consume all of my VPS resources(CPU 3/ 4G RAM/ Opcache/ Varnish/ W3 cache), causing overload. After much trouble I discovered that the problem was the Visual Composer plugin. Strangely, just the VC be enabled with any theme or even the WP and be in maintenance mode, which still is in the server overloaded state instantly, causing internal server error 500 and leading to think that it is a conflict which neither I, nor the server team could find out.
Well, I did numerous searches in the forum and follow all the tips provided to other users with the same problem, but the only salvation with good results was the SHIM beta which I take me long to figure out just. After seeing the server normalize and vibrate with the SHIM, a new bad surprise: the Tabs feature of Visual Composer plugin was broken on my site.
I would love to guidance to rehabilitate the tabs function through the SHIM. This would be a wonderful help, even with the problem of having to return to the VC and face all that slow in cases of necessary future customizations.

The tagDiv Visual Composer Shim is an experimental plugin in beta version and it was created like an alternative solution regarding the Visual Composer consuming resources(especially for tagdiv blocks). All this issues with Visual Composer plugin started since plugin’s version 4.4, which was a major update of the plugin and since then the plugin doubled in size and started using more resources.
We did not get any reports regarding this issue from latest version of the plugin, so please make sure that you have increased the php memory limit and try to use only necessarily plugins.

Yes friend. The set memory is appropriate and I’ve done tests removing all plugins, yet the Visual Composer (latest version) consumes all resources. As I said, even though in maintenance mode or with the default theme WP still Visual Composer makes any page with internal server error 500. Only with the Shim plugin this overload disappears and everything returns to normal.
With his explanations, I would like to test an earlier version 4.4 of Visual Composer so. After all, the Shim plugin shook the tabs, but it was just that.
Among the older versions of Visual Composer which the lighter, safer and better will work with the Newspaper 6.3? Where can I download it?

This shouldn’t happen anymore, all memory issues with VC plugin were attended in both theme’s and VC plugin updates.
Not sure if older version work, the theme hasn’t been tested with older versions of the Visual Composer plugin so there could not work fine. You can make a request for it via email and we will send it to you.
Please also note that we will release a new theme update this week with the latest version of the Visual Composer plugin included so you can try ti and see if this still happens.
