Sidebars permissions problem

Hi

I have created my Homepage but when I try to click on “Manage Sidebars” I get a You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page error message.

I have contacted my hoster who tells me that it isn’t a problem they can see.

They asked me to check the following:

You will want to verify with the theme author that it does not require the exec() / exec.php or url_fopen functions, as both of those have been disabled on Synthesis hosting for security reasons.

Can you answer this, and also can you suggest any way to fix this problem?

Many thanks

Andrew

Hi,
What you have to do is to re-upload the theme and make sure all files are uploaded.

Thanks!

Sorry Marius I have just tried that with a brand new just downloaded version of the theme and it still gives me the permissions error.

the end of the URL is :/wp-admin/themes.php?page=td_controller.php&td_page=sidebars

What else can we try?

Can you also answer this please: You will want to verify with the theme author that it does not require the exec() / exec.php or url_fopen functions, as both of those have been disabled on Synthesis hosting for security reasons.

Thanks

Andrew

Hi,

I have the exact same problem.

When I click “manage sidebars” in a post I get:

You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Use WPengine, have flushed and reset all permissions but still nothing.

Edit:

You have to go into the Theme panel -> Categories -> Choose your category and from there generate a new sidebar.

Hi,
Of course, sorry for my misunderstanding, in Theme Panel you can create custom sidebars, from Categories, or from Template settings where you have this controller http://screencast.com/t/GyIpvqR3h74

I am having the same issues. Marius, I can got to the Theme Panel and create custom sidebar; however, once I do, I have no way of managing the actual new custom sidebar I have just created. Screenshot of error http://clip2net.com/s/6OeEYf
I look forward to your assistance with this.

Hi,
Please don’t use that button http://screencast.com/t/tyKESrh7E we have missed to remove it. Go to Theme panel to create a new sidebar and then choose them from page, posts from the list http://screencast.com/t/wnOXUMokyG

Thanks!

In my current site, I have different Pages using different sidebars. In my testing of the new 3.1 I only see that you can set one sidebar for all Pages. Otherwise, when I try set it like the users above I also get the permission error. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi,

@rcraig232
i can replicate the issue, and i don’t understand exactly when give you the permission error.

You can edit any page you want and use a custom sidebar for each page. Can you make a screencast to see the issue, you can use Jing software, is free.

Thanks!

@Marius who say “we have missed to remove it” (about the link “Manage sidebars”):

why not to correct and keep it ? It would be very convenient !

I wan’t to create a new sidebar and name it. I used to be able to do this with the theme. On other themes you just go to “appearance” and drop down to “sidebars”. There you can create, delete, and manage all your sidebars.

Where did you move it to and how do I access it? Please help

@scrappy
Posting the same question 3 times doesn’t help anything, btw.

Also, this forum thread is for the “Newspaper” theme not the “Newses” theme.

You’ve posted your query there, you may wish to follow up with tagdiv support by email for that theme.
