Default WordPress system
Jetpack comments
Disqus
Facebook comments
Intense Debate
Livefyre?

I use the latest Newspaper 6.5, it’s beautiful all the way., keep up the work guys.
But i want to know the house’s choice for the best commenting system.
Mind you, if your sites goes big and you have an average of 300-500+ comments on a post won’t it load up your database?, and is it the best to use third parties like Disqus, Livefyre or etc?

My site by the way is Factwide

I currently use “WpDiscuz” and I have posts with upwards of 500 comments.

I’m not sure if that is the best plugin to use or not though. I haven’t done any tests with another commenting system.

WOW, is that a free or premium commenting system?

Yeah, it is Free. I think you can upgrade to get more features. But I currently use the free one.

I am interested on Facebook comments , but I also want to ask that is there any way to make wordpress ‘s default comment system to have tinyMCE editor?

I really doubt that it can be done. Maybe the theme’s developers can help us out on that.

We use built-in comments with Akismet on some sites.
On others with higher traffic, we use Disqus.

We’re testing an async plugin using Disqus API for faster loads, but I haven’t had time to finalize that.

Generally I’ve stayed away from the FB comments as originally that slowed our pages down and/or caused them to not even load if FB was cocked up — so if that is async now, might be okay — if you don’t mind all the cookies and spying related to that and if your main visitors are coming from FB (if you have a million followers on FB then you’d likely already be using FB comments on your site ….).

When using *any* comment system remember it’s best to use one which allows you to save/store the comments locally which Disqus allows, so if you decide to leave it, you don’t lose the comments. FB didn’t support that — they “own” the comments, which wasn’t cool for our purposes. If they lose them or you switch it off, you lost all of that — not sure if it still works like that.

Anyway, some food for thought.
Some sites are removing comments as waste of time and too many trolls calling Obama a muslin, or pushing anti-immigration agendas or praising jesus for making baby food taste better or whatever. 🙂

I did not know that facebook ‘s comment system keep those comments on their on, ouch this just makes us decide not to use it ~ we have learned well from our forum that those comments will become website’s valuable assets. We now have 800,000 forum threads, this becomes a big threshold to later market comers 🙂

Exactly. I prefer to own my content, which the old FB setup didnt support … But double chevk on that as its been over a year since i went through this exact same conversation for our site revamp when newsmag came out.

Yes, i agree to that. for now, i will use the default system, then as my traffic gets overloaded, i will switch to disqus so that it does not overload my database.

Thanks Chris!

Well, I just tried wpDiscuz and do not like since it does not work with captcha not showing and social icons are not showing and even the color edits are not changing. Even with clearing cache from wp super cache and cloudflare cleared cache and browser cache. Uninstalling the plugin and reinstalling does nothing. I think I am just going to remove it. Disqus I tried before and looks nice but missing one thing I like from default WordPress Comments is the website adding for backlinks. I would like them to add that but I asked them a long time ago and nothing has been added for it.

I am using Newsmag and maybe that is why wpDiscuz is not working.

Hi @akpanpromise
Stay on the default comment system and when you consider, switch to another one(i prefer Disqus)
