Hello!
Am I the only one who wonders why the theme ignores the sticky posts function? What is the point?
I am using Block 11 an d can’t have Sticky Posts. As I understand this will solve the issue, can you confirm?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
You could change this value to 0 – http://screencast.com/t/Tv6WXn01T but changing this will affect all your blocks if you filter by the category of the sticky post.
Thanks!
You mean that I should change it to 0? Could you also be a bit more specific on what will happen when I filter by category on a block?
Hi,
Yes if you want the sticky post to not be ignored on blocks, you can change it to 0. Nothing special will happen, only if you filter by the category of the sticky post(or you filter by all categories), it will appear first on block. For example I have Hello World sticky post, if I filter by all categories this is the result – http://screencast.com/t/q0hxkdnzNQ if I filter by a specific category(different than sticky post category) the block will not be affected – http://screencast.com/t/yXF1r2UBTI
Hope this helps!
Well, this is unfortunately not working. Changed the value to 0, uploaded it to the child theme and nothing happened. Uploaded it to the parent theme and still nothing. I dubbel checked if the post was checked as sticky and it is… I am using a multisite installation, that should not be affecting this, right?
help?
Is there another way to create sticky posts with this theme?
Hi,
Unfortunately the data source file cannot be overwritten via child theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ you will have to change this in the main theme.
Thanks!
That’s exactly what I did, still no results :/ Is there any workaround?
Hi,
Please use pastebin.com and provide the content of datasource(all code modified) file so I can check it on my side.
Thanks!
Hi,
@arayaz Please provide more details about your modifications, block settings and link to the sticky post so I can check this. Create a test page like I suggested for jonybigude.
@jonybigude I have checked this with your code and it worked on my side – http://screencast.com/t/j4pokDlp Please make sure that your sticky post is tagged to the category used on block.
Create a test page using just 1 block, filter by a specific category and make sure you have a sticky post. If you make that change in data source file and consider sticky post, it should appear first on your block. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks!
Hi Alin,
Here is the link to a test page with the block set to show all posts, order latest: http://abakanews.org/test-page/
The post that is set to sticky is the following:
http://abakanews.org/news/armenia-and-artsakh/մայր-աթոռ-սուրբ-էջմիածնի-մէջ-տեղի-ունե-2/
As you can see, it is way down on the list!
Hi arayaz,
When you send the email to take a look to the other issue, pleas paste a link to this topic and I will look also to this problem.
Thanks!
It’s really not working, is it bercause I filter the block with different categories?
I tried to make a workarround by creating a new block on top of that one and filter after a new category for sticky posts. It didn’t work as the block is allways shown no matter if there are posts or not (when no posts exist on category, the block shows empty with the top colored bar).
I really love this theme but I also really need this feature. It’s really a must have! Sticky posts are one of the most core functions of wordpress, how come you didn’t think of this?
How can I workarround this?
Hi,
Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin access so we can take a look, also paste a link to this topic so we can know who you are. Please create a test page and provide a link to one of your sticky posts so we can test this.
Thanks!
Hello
we use newspaper 6.5 , sticky post works after we tweak this
http://screencast.com/t/Tv6WXn01T
However, if we set “Big Grid 3” ‘s filter setting to “Sort order:” to ” Random post from last 7days”, grid is twisted like this http://i.imgur.com/dR91wXc.jpg , one un-needed post go down… if we choose filter to “latest” it will works as expected though
could you please tell how to fix this
thanks
Hi,
The blocks were designed to ignore sticky post, so if you change this, the sticky post will not consider post limit(on Big Grid blocks there is not post limit option), sort order and you will need custom modifications for this. I suggest to hire a freelancer to do this task for you as we cannot provide custom work.
Thanks!
Hi,
You can use sticky posts in the theme but unfortunately as they were initially thought to be ignored, after enabling them, they will be included theme’s queries and cause issues like the one @AilyRoot reported so you would need additional tweaking to theme’s code. I’ll note this and pass it to the development team and see what we can do in this regard.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks for the message!
