Odd size Images in Homepage Slider

Hello,

I am getting odd sized images in the homepage slider that don’t fill the box. I have used Thumbnail regenerate but they are still not right. You can see this at http://www.aboutluxurycruising.com

I use the ‘thumbnail upscale’ plugin which fixes this; stupidly WordPress disables the built-in GD library feature on server to ‘enlarge and crop’ images — dumb dumb dumb on WP’s part. So, the upscale plugin brings this back by disabling the disabling. 🙂

This probably should be added to the theme docs at some point.

Hi,

Thanks Chris! We try improve our documentation, here are some information about upscale thumbs – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/

@waveviewmike
I have checked your site and the thumbs look fine on your sliders, I guess you solved this issue. Please let me know if you have other issues related to the theme.

Thanks!

Thanks to Chris as this seemed to have sorted things, but the forced regenerate never finishes. It has an error halfway through and hangs?

Any ideas how I can detect which image or what is causing it to stop?
Many thanks

Mike

I think some people use the force regenerate plugin instead on some servers which have the timeout set to short for php scripts … where it literally times out.

You can also double check you increased the default memory for WP from 40MB to something like 128MB in your wp-config.php file —

I’ve never used the “force regenerate” plugin myself — but I’m rockin quad xeons and 32GB RAM on our server so we’ve got power to spare for stuff like that.
