my turn to ask for help 🙂
Pushing a friend/client to use Newspaper; he has a band/CD and does local gigs up to 4x per week (10x times per month).
He needs some kind of event listing plugin where he can create events, but then highlight that on the front page easily so that visitors can quickly see where his band(s) will be playing, but also be able to go to an event listing page/calendar/etc. to see that.
Any suggestions for this ?
Would be awesome to have future version of Newspaper similar to video version, but with an event manager and audio clips playback/HTML5 audio player for music/bands/record labels.

We didn’t do any tests lately with such a plugin so we cannot make a recommendation.
A good strategy would be to check most the popular free plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/
Or go for one of the most popular on Codecanyon – http://codecanyon.net/item/eventon-wordpress-event-calendar-plugin/1211017
I don’t know if these plugins include all the features required by your friend, maybe someone from the community who uses such a plugin may provide some feedback.
Unfortunately for the moment we don’t plan to implement such a feature, sorry. We may change our mind in the future but i cannot promise anything.

If you want an idea for another theme to offer at some point a “music” theme with support for audio clips/players, video clips/players, band event calendar and woocommerce support to sell band stuff, newsletter signup to mailchimp, you’d have another winner !

It seems that the events calendar plugin it’s used by some user from newspaper/newsmag theme community without any serious reports so it might do the job.
