It seems impossible to have a multilingual site using Newspaper. When I change the default English translation to another language, in the Theme Panel->Translations, the new language becomes the default language.
One of the reasons I purchased the newspaper template was because I was under the impression I could create a multiple language website.
It also seems that the menu can have only ONE default language every attempt to translate it into another language, makes the new language the default.
What about renaming/translating block names?
Am I missing something?
What about the date? It cannot get translated under the theme panel / translations. There is no option.

The theme doesn’t have a multilingual feature, but you could use a plugin like QTranslateX to have a different content. I am interested mainly for the translation of the theme’s core (blocks,date, widgets, menus, etc.) I have managed to do some of the things withe the polylang plugin but still cannot have the Menus in different languages. Could this be solved with the WPML plugin?

qtranslatex work for everything but not for category title.
I have the same problem with qtranslatex that post
#60445, one user post a solution changing code in file /wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_category_template.php
The solution post in #60466 dont work for me, i have newspaper 6.6.4

Unfortunately as these plugins are not tested (officially), we cannot make a statement on what to do because we have no idea of their functionality. Q-translate x seamed to be the closest we could find to a working plugin but we cannot say for sure if it will work 100% as we did not run any rigorous testing. you can try to troubleshoot it and disable all plugins except visual composer and q-translate to rule out any plugin conflicts. If you still cannot manage to get it working, then you will probably have to look for another translation plugin that works with our theme. Sorry for not having a precise answer. Maybe one of our users who have some experience with this plugin and our theme can help you out.
